London based artist Paula Macfarlane studied at St Martin’s School of Art, Brighton College of Art, and finally at the Royal College of Art in London, leading to a career in illustration, design and art direction.

She is now concentrating her practice in fine art oil painting. Working from life or direct observation, her choice of subject matter corresponding with her interest in the possibilities of light and colour.

Dividing some of her time between urban London, and rural France, she works either in her studio, to capture still life floral portraits and informal arrangements, or en plein air, to paint the inner cityscapes of London or the open landscapes in France.
